Faraday Avenue

On October 5, 2007, the long-awaited Faraday Avenue connection north of Palomar Airport Road was celebrated, opening the four-lane secondary arterial roadway to traffic for the first time since its groundbreaking in 2005. The new Faraday Avenue segment connects to Melrose Drive in Vista, allowing for better traffic circulation for the communities of Carlsbad and Vista. It also provides drivers with more route options and helps emergency vehicles gain access to neighborhoods near the new connection.

O’Day Consultants was contracted as the prime civil engineering firm for the Carlsbad Oaks North Business Park project, a TechBilt Companies development. The project included the construction and connection of Faraday Avenue, El Fuerte Street, and portions of Melrose Drive and consists of 23 industrial use lots for a projected 1,921,000 square feet of planned industrial development with some auxiliary commercial uses and the preservation of three open space lots.

O’Day Consultants’ services for Faraday Avenue and the Carlsbad Oaks North Business Park project included land surveying services, the preparation of tentative maps, Hillside Ordinance Documents, and a Constraints Map. During the final engineering phase, final grading and improvement plans, traffic control plans, hydrology study, hydraulic design, construction cost estimates, and earthwork analysis were also provided.
